Foggy laurel forest

Definitely not the shot we were going for that day. On a photo journey to the Portugese island of Madeira we took the car in the afternoon and drove straight to the highest point of the island. There we would shoot the sunset from some great vista in the local mountains. Regardless the promising weather forecast we ended up in the most dense fog i had ever seen. No big vistas, but on our way near the summit i spotted this forest with ferns and beautiful yellow flowers. It was time for plan B and so we ended up shooting there until twilight, with this image as one of the results.

Kevin, I had a similar experience while in Madeira: The most heavy fog of my life was on top of the mountain. Your choice to move in the wood was a good one. I like the atmosphere the images brings. Just on the lower right area, I would prefer if the yellow bush is not cutten off. But this is really a minor thing.

Hi Michael, thanks for your feedback. Funny, i actually started to clone out the yellow flowers in the right corner :) But ended u leaving it like this because it balances the image better i concluded. Ideally it would indeed been better if it wasn't cut off at the border of the image
