Hello!
The other morning, I captured an incredible golden hour sunrise over a small pond behind my house. Because of the cold morning temps, I was able to capture the fog on the water and the sun glowing through it. I took a pano of 5 shots and pieced it together, then added various graduated filters to get the appropriate lighting.
Since this website has the most critical/honest people. I'm looking to get some feedback and see if there is something I've missed either in composition, but hopefully just in post. Any advice is appreciated.
Thank you!
Derek
Love the glow off the surface fog very serene scene
Thank you, Don!
Exposure and colors are great, and there are no obvious stitching or filter artifacts. It's awesome that you were able to get the fog to show up so well too.
I'm not too big a fan of the composition though. It seems like the lake should be the focal point, but all the plants at the water's edge are blocking the view. I'd have maybe tried to get closer and use those plants to frame the lake super wide, or maybe stepped back, went higher, and angled down to ge over the top of them. Not sure if that would have worked though and this may have been the best composition available.
Completely fair thoughts. I too was wondering if the vegetation was too distracting. I'm still debating that. However, there is woods right behind where I'm standing, and I took these shots hand held, so I couldn't get much higher. It is a good thought though. I may need to drag my ladder out there, lol
