Island in the Sun.

This shot was taken in Potipot Island, Zambales, Philippines. At first, I had doubts whether there's really anything I can shoot since the island was almost bare, with just some trees here and there. Then, I stumbled upon this tree trunk, mostly, and thought it would be interesting to have a go at it but, I couldn't quite figure out how. Fortunately, the sun was setting in a direction wherein it would be under an "arch" formed by the tree, so I went down and slowly composed the shot and here you go. Most of the time it really pays off to think about what you're going to shoot, take time to slow down and understand the scene instead of just going trigger happy shooting.

Nice capture. I know exactly what you mean. Sometimes beaches can have too little or too much and you really have to think three-dimensional.

Right! Totally agree.
