Fishing Boat in the setting sun

Taken in Emerald Bay, NC at sunset. Any feed back on the edit or composition would be great, i didn't do a whole lot with it (boosted some of the shadows).

One of those beautiful scenes from which it's hard to create a really satisfying image, Michael.

In terms of composition, a problem here is the sun and the boat, close together in the centre of the frame, with not enough time to race along the shore (if that were indeed possible at all) to separate them, so they compete for attention. My eye vacillates between them, and also that wave-top plume of spray at left that looks a bit like a boat at first glance.

Further, the intense sunlight makes the boat just a bit too hard to make out. Shooting straight into the sun presents extreme contrast, unless the sun is veiled by lots of mist, dropping its brightness.

Not much you could do about any of these. I'd certainly take a few images quickly here, as the waves' appearance is hard to predict.
But I'd shoot in hope, not expecting a keeper.

This is a nice picture Michael Schuler ...alot of subjects can be distracting at times but the sun seems to be the main one to me. cropping to make the sun more dominate would have been nice. tell me what do you think of this???
