Any advice on this shot. Is it just my eyes or could it be sharper? I'll be honest I was trying out the image stabilization on my new camera. This was shot hand held at f/8 1/10 sec. I wish I'd have just used my tripod b/c I kind of like this shot. Also is it necessary to focus stack a shot like this? Cause even at f/8 the back seems soft. What do you think?

If you are feeling that your photo isn't sharp enough and also a bit soft, then perhaps as you stated "wish I brought a tripod".
I like how the root at the bottom of the frame leads your eye directly to the tree and up the trunk. Given this, I wonder if following the "rules" there should be an odd number of trees?
But hey, that's just my thoughts. Neither right nor wrong.
