made this shot in Canyonlands last fall. Have been sitting on it trying to decide if I really want to print it. thought that I would post it and see if you had an opinion on it.
Yes, this is a bit better, John, but I'd go in between ro retain more of the overall twilight feeling. I'm not sure the foreground shrubs need to be lighter, mainly the rocks so the viewer can "read" them and enjoy the forms & textures.
BTW as the original poster, you can post edits, or anything else for that matter, underneath your main image at left, rather than here in the comments section. That way viewers can toggle directly between them.
You may need to edit the text to avoid confusion for later viewers.
Have you tried reducing the shadows on the rock using a mask and increasing exposure, saturation and vibrancy?
i did lighten/dodge the foreground/rock area some and i did some saturation to the sky. i can try some more to see what happens
so here is the result and it helped the overall feel of the picture

Was this taken at the Needles campground?
no. It was about half a day from the needles campground. Dont remember the name of the area, sort of south and east
Off road I assume, Davis or Lavender Canyon or maybe Hamburger Hill. Eh, doesn't matter.
