I've seen a number of images from this location in bad weather so when Storm Francis rolled in I thought I'd pop down and try my luck. What do you think?
Love these, Ian! As for trying your luck - "The more I do, the luckier I get." Good on you for getting out there.
The second has the drama, but the last is the best for me as an image likely to have enduring appeal. as pure photography regardless of the documentary aspect. Its off-balance composition appeals to me, for some reason. Maybe that wave being almost blown off the page adds to the windswept feel. But I do love the sheer fury of the second. I'd be pretty damn pleased with any of these images! Well done. In you portfolio, chop chop.
You may like Rachael Talibart's monograph "Sirens", in case you don't know it already
Thanks so much Chris. I was tempted to shoot just waves at one point but didn't want to miss something spectacular at the sea wall. I also wondered whether the waves alone may be boring but having taken a look a Rachael's work I couldn't have been more wrong. Next time I'll drag myself away from the obvious. Now when is the next storm due?
