Nice job, Geoff! It's hard to get reflections, beautiful though they can be in themselves, to fit well and harmonise in a composition, but you've done that very well here for my tastes. I like the way that the sky complements the reflection scene, with that strip of warm colour beneath the wispy clouds, and the flow in the trees from the fuller right edge, to that beaUtiful tree & reflection at left.
I also like that you haven't done what many would, and have an implausibly bright reflection (reflections always being darker than what they reflect), trying to milk it for all it's worth.
Overall, there's a lovely, soothing, painterly feel to this image.
Hi Chris. Thanks for the feedback...I did have some other shots on slightly different angles but did like this one the best, the light was changing every minute.
Agree with Chris. Its a nice photo. There in one objekt in the picture that makes the composition a little out of balanse. The half part of the tree to the right in the picture. I don't know if it would have been possible to alter this on site by moving the viewpoint to the left. That would for me make the photo one star better.
But by all means, its a beautiful photo.
I thought so too at first, Kjell, but on reflection I like the fact that the tree line tapers and thins out, so that one tree at left is isolated. I wonder if doing what you say (which I would probably have tried myself if possible) would make the image a bit centred and conventional, a simple illustration of an attractive copse. This has a bit more life about it for me.
I agree with both of you which is a trick given that they're opposite viewpoints. Taking the whole tree on the right margin out leaves the image ending a bit abruptly. And, like Kjell I think the whole of the partial throws things off a bit.
Splitting hairs...... I took out 1/2 of the tree on the right margin. That stops the abrupt edge I mentioned and removes enough that the remainder, while keeping the image "open" isn't enough to grab the eye away from the primary subject matter.
Thanks for all the feedback. I did take it on different angles however the light and colours were changing all the time as the sun came up. I didn't want to over edit it so stuck with this version.
Great photo. It looks very natural. After looking closely I think I am okay with the balance and the fact that you did not over do the editing. Nice work
It's a beautiful shot, but the imbalance took away from the overall effect for me. If it were my shot, I'd have cropped it differently to get a better sense of balance top-to-bottom and right-to-left. My crop isn't perfect, but you get the idea. In any case, the calm and peace in the photo are so well captured. The subtlety of the colors is so delicate and appropriate.
Hi all. Thanks for all the comments and feedback. I did purposely crop to half of the tree on the right as due to the bank of the pond that would have been in the shot if I had the hole tree, which didn't look that great.

And I think that's exactly why it worked, Gary. I can imagine making a similar decision in your place.
