In the foothills above the Chile's Atacama desert is Laguna Miscanti. Foothills is a bit of a misnomer as the floor of the Atacama desert is at 7,900' and the lake surface of Laguna Miscant is ~13,500'. The volcanos in the background are all 16,000+ in height. The lake water is very saline as are most lakes in the Atacama.

beautifully captured - I have been there and I was not that fortunate to capture without people. I never tried black and white but it looks terrific. If i go back I will try some. Thanks
