Century Tree at Texas A&M University

Fall has finally arrived in Texas and I thought I'd take the opportunity to explore my university a bit to seek out any worthwhile compositions. As a graduate student I hardly ever make it to campus anymore so it was nice to get out and explore a bit.

I came across this spot at the century tree (known for being one of the oldest trees on campus, over 100 years hence century). I thought it made for a nice shot. I've edited it in a couple of different ways. I'm normally not too keen on the desaturated black and white with the pop of color but I wanted to gauge what other people preferred.

Thoughts?

Great golden light, Trevor. Between the two, I prefer the full color version. Having said this, I’m feeling the building on the left kind of throws off the vibe - but that might just be me.

Digging’ the petals and tree for sure though - is there enough res to try a portrait crop that showcases the archway and path?

Thanks Robert. Yeah there probably is enough resolution for a portrait crop but I've also taken some photos here in portrait orientation that I just haven't gotten around to editing yet. The portrait orientation will crop some of that building as well.
