Trying to figure out how to capture details in a "snowscape" so to speak. Hard to get detail in some areas without blowing out others or making the shafows waay too dark. Anyone have experience in this?
Bracketed exposures are frequently required, particularly if there is direct sunlight on the snow. The dynamic range is too large for just about any camera on the consumer market to capture in a single frame. Take an exposure for the snow, an exposure for the rock, and blend the images together in your photo editing software of choice. Luminosity masking is probably the easiest way to blend exposure bracketed images but manually with a brush tool could also work.
