The big empty sky isn't doing you any favors. The story, as I see it, is about the mist lighting up in the valley and the empty top third of the frame distracts from that. If you were to shoot it again under similar conditions, I would recommend a telephoto lens trained on misty hills midframe. For this image, I believe a crop that contains less sky would improve the composition.

take away part of the sky and part of the foreground would help. I am thinking something like this. hope that you don't mind that i took the liberty
