Taken a couple of months before the world fell on its knees to the virus.
Located just 25 minutes drive off Apollo Bay in Melbourne Australia, its a short walk from the carpark to reach this waterfall.
It felt like entering into another dimension as soon as you pass the signpost where you are greeted with endless fallen trees.
Before you know it, you'll be presented with a 7m waterfall surrounded by its steep cove.
Nice job, Danny! It is a magical place. Close to Apollo Bay, but literally beyond Paradise.
;-)
Thanks so much Chris! Greatly appreciated.
Have you been out much to shoot post lockdown?
Hi Danny! I nearly got out in July, but was stuck here until November, when I raced out before the govt changed its mind! It was SUCH a relief!
I went to the Grampians and west coast, but didn't do waterfalls much as I didn't expect much water. Must go to Marriner's again. I usually take leave in winter, as I prefer the weather.
You get about a bit, I see, but I'm struck by the beautiful images you make in our home state & city. You been out lately? BTW NIgretta & Wannon Falls are near Hamilton with dead-easy access, in case you don't know them. Nigretta has photo potential +++ above the main falls.
I haven't shoot much since the lockdown lifted. Priorities changed and photography has taken a backseat.
Only went out couple of times after lockdown lifted but that's about it.
I don't shoot much waterfalls as I find them very difficult to process.
Your shots however got me thinking about having another crack at it!
Care to share what you've got from Grampians?
There's quite a bit, Danny. I mostly take close-ups, rather than the grand view. Hard to avoid the postcard image. The Wannon (first) image above is a rare exception. My portfolio reflects what I look for in falls - abstraction, mainly. I'll have to update my PF & do some posting - other priorities, like you!.
Mackenzie, Turret and Burrong Falls provide good opportunity for me in the Grampians, esp. Turret. Splitters Falls are OK too. I wouldn't put most of these images in my portfolio, but they give an idea how the falls look overall. Images below are respectively of Burrong, Mackenzie & Turret - the last don't look much, but again, above the main falls little cascades and pools occupy me for hours!
Beehive Falls, too - quite small, but a pretty spot. Just quickly processed this overall view.
Thats definitely got me thinking about waterfalls mate!
As you said it, its hard to get a shot away from the postcard perspective these days.
Fine line between standard perspective and tread on nature to get that shot and potentially put your life on the line also.
Looking forward to seeing your PF refresh :)
Very nice capture!
Looks like pure solitude - What I would give to be there...
Thanks so much Peter!
We are fortunate to have this little gem here although I think it pales in comparison to the majestic waterfalls in North America.
