I've had some time to return to editing some of my photos from my trip to Glacier national park and this one caught my eye quickly. What do you think of the composition and edit? Shot with Nikon D750 on a Tamron 15-30 lens with NISI filters.
Pretty good overall, Trevor, but two things stand out for me - the water's turquoise hue looks unnaturally intense, though I know glacial streams can be this hue, and secondly the shadows look a bit dark. Others, including yourself, may well disagree, as this is totally subjective.
I like your composition, but the greyish rock at left foregound, while "anchoring" the composition, somehow looks a bit... well, GREY and amorphous, a bit of a blob. I'd have been tempted to make its colour tone in a BIT with the rest, perhaps emphasise the contrast within it, & its textures, to give it a little more interest, and help it to better complement the rest. Again, totally subjective.
Here's my "take" - but you were there, and know what YOU saw.
(1) Composition: For me the relation between Trees and water + Rocks not getting established. they look different element to me. The left dark rock is a disturbance and making frame left heavy. Camera level is a little high i feel to bring any interest.
(2) Edit: Sub consciously or with purpose the water elements are in teal-orange colour. for me, this looks a little artificial. The greens of trees also not setting in well with teal-orange. Broken tree branches at middle right is disturbance for my opinion.
