Little Things

As we headed back down the Ogden Waterfall Trail, I felt thankful. For though we live in a world wounded on so many levels, I have the privilege of escaping into such beauty as this, and if only for a moment I'm oblivious to what is going on beyond my eyes...the little things.

I like it but I might be inclined to reduce the brightness of the snow on the right side running to the center just a tiny bit. Maybe it's just me but it has a tendency to draw my eyes to the base of the mountains.

I'd agree that the brightness of the snow lower right does draw the eye more than may be desired.

I personally find it a bit too cluttered. Do you have another shot without trees on both sides - or at least minimally? It also looks like the sky was placed there, especially on the left edge of the rocky peak. Though I assume that was due to post processing. I love the receding rock field.

Thanks. This is not a composite image.

The clouds may look out of place because of the amount of sharpening on the rest of the image in post.

Yep

Focus stacking sometimes can help reduce the amount of sharpening that may be desired otherwise....

You ever set up to do focus stacking with an impatient wife standing over your shoulder? Not for the faint of heart! ;) Seriously, this was a "fun" hike, not me alone having much time to contemplate angles or too much of anything else. When I'm on one of those hikes I will take what I can get.

LOL yes, totally understandable!

I agree with Charles here. It is a very busy picture and the sky does look out of place. While I am not very experienced with landscape photography, I really enjoy the way this picture draws your eyes through the image. Do you have a color version of this, or was it shot in B&W?

My biggest suggestion is maybe a crop that takes out the tree in the left foreground and focuses more on the path up the mountains.

Looking at it full-size (about 16" x 10.5") on my screen from about four feet, I don't find the trees troublesome and I suspect the image could be printed larger.

I have printed it large and it sings. Thanks for the input.

Chloe thanks for the suggestion but I disagree it needs to be cropped. I'm not interested in the color version.

Mark, what a lovely sentiment. I like this image. It reminds me a taking a peek through the underbrush and discovering something wonderful. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and image.

You are welcome John. Glad you enjoyed the moment.
