Joseph Marc Photography's picture

Sunset over Lake Pontchartrain in South Louisiana.

I took this picture a few weeks ago and it was originally very underexposed. I was very close to deleting it, but for some reason decided to hold on to it.

I decided to do a little editing to it today, and was really pleased with the way it came out.

Being that this is the first picture I edit using Lightroom, any feedback would be great.

Nice! I've got a bunch of Sunset pictures taken from the Mandeville lakefront. I lived there for about 25 years. :-)

David, I'm originally from Houma, but moved to the Northshore a little over two years ago. Lake Pontchartrain loves to put on a show when the sunsets, especially in the winter.

This is one of the first Sunsets I caught and it happened to be at the pier in Mandeville. I can't tell you how much time I spent staring at the Causeway waiting for that perfect moment. :-)

That's a great shot! The one I took was on the alligator marsh boardwalk in Fontainebleau State Park.

I may head to the pier after tomorrows storms pass and see if i can get some good shots

The whole lakefront from the marina to the pier offer great sunset perspectives. I did a lot of shots with a 9 stop ND filter to get that smooth water and cloud motion blur. I sure do miss it!

Do you still live down here?

No, I'm in Winnipeg, Manitoba. My wife is from Winnipeg and she lived in Mandeville for 20+ years away from her family, so now it's my turn. We left Mandeville in June of 2017. We're supposed to get about 5-10 inches of snow starting Sunday evening. Yea, I miss Mandeville!

i like the snow, but glad we don't get it down here. i do wish we had an actual 4 seasons though, not just 4 seasons in a day

We have four seasons here; June, July, August, and winter. :-)
