This is an old fortification building on the eastern coast of Latvia. What a hypnotic view it was, the enigmatic structure constantly being battered by the surf rolling in from the sea... It is a dark place, especially with such weather, but I considered thunder as a gift, though I am still shaking the sand out of my hair and ears. I knew this was the shot I was hunting for, so traveling 150+ km for it was super rewarding.
Great work, Marina! Love that gloom and drama. I particularly like the way the crashing wave blends with that stormy sky. I'm a great fan of stormy seas.
The clouds prepare for battle
In the dark and brooding silence
Bruised and sullen storm clouds
Have the light of day obscured
Looming low and ominous
In twilight premature
Thunderheads are rumbling
In a distant overture.
