Nice one, Jerome! I particularly like those white fingers of time-smeared foam, and there's a complementarity between the sea and sky patterns, which mirror each other to a degree. You've balanced all the elements in what is for me a very pleasing composition.
The top left part of the sky looks unnaturally dark to me, given that the relatively well-lit foreground is illuminated from above more than from the sunrise. We all like dramatic skies, but the sky is almost always lighter than the earth or water below, something people often overlook in using grads and in processing.
I think I now have good experience of using GND filters. For this photo, I used a 2-stop GND: it is not this density that can darken the sky so much! So it is a very dark sky.
The exposure of the foreground was made taking into account the brightness of the rising sun, not to overexpose it.
Perhaps you are not used to the skies that we can have in Brittany?
