Cadillac Sunset

The sun rises really early in Maine especially here. Cadillac Mountain is the first place in the continental U.S. to see the sun rise. You also have to reserve a pass which sells out in minutes. For these reasons I choose to do sunset. Was hoping the sky would clear up so I could get the iconic sun on the horizon shot. But sometimes you get what you get. I only had a few days in Acadia National Park. The clouds and haze still made for an interesting scene with some nice colors. The views are so nice I struggled with what to shoot. I did several panoramas but ultimately decided this single wide angle shot was the best composition. I eventually found a place with out any people and tried to incorporate some foreground elements that would lead you into the views in the background.
