Mean what you shoot and shoot what you mean

During the first workshop I ever attended one assignment we were given was. The class was to shoot an entire roll of film only using one lens of a scene utilizing the full range of the lens and all photographs must contain the same main point of interest. I found an almost tropical microcosm full of trees, ferns a small waterfall or spillway, stream with moss covered rocks and one fallen red maple leaf (which my main subject).

To this day, every now and zen a shooting session begins and ends this way. Not so much as this lessons objective but more an exercise of contemplation or meditation to refine and define the elements that attracted me to begin with.

Here is a quick example after discovering some wild oats growing along a fence outside my house.
