Adirondack Life

We vacation almost every year in Brant Lake, New York. I've made a habit or a tradition out of doing a star trail photo at our camp every year. The Adirondack's have some of the best dark skies on the east coast. I was only able to use a little over 200 photos for this as clouds started to roll in and ruin everything. This actually came out better than I expected. I wasn't sure I was going to have enough photos for decent star trails because of the clouds. I blended in the star trail photo into a blue hour shot for the foreground and to mitigate some of the ambient lights coming from around the lake. Thanks for looking.

Hey Kyle, nice image, place and story. Never realized how low the north star was in the sky that far north. But that’s not why I decided to comment. I notice in the star trail path (begin ?) in the upper right quadrant (between 12:30 - 2:30 star time ;) of course) the negative or dark space I can see a few outlines of overlapping forest tree top silhouette as if there’s a double exposure … pretty cool check it out. Let me know if you can see it or if it’s just me.

Hmmm. Idk. I don’t see it. Doesn’t mean it’s not there though. Could just be from where I blended in the star trails into my blue hour photo.

Oar maybe just me ;) maybe but don’t know, it’s one of those thing where if you look at it straight on it’s not apparent you have to pick it up with your side vision. Have you ever had to travel at night with very dim light well you can see better at the edge of your vision rather than looking at something straight on. Remember those posters that looked like a really bad clone job and when you looking at them a certain way an image would appear it’s kind of like than but like I said more of a faded double exposure in the background. Or look at the ends of the star trails as an inverted graph plot before the dots are connected and that’s were the shape of the tree tops appear. I’m look at approximately a 9-10” image at a screen with 2560x1600 resolution. But like I said it might just be me last eye test I had 20/10 vision and on color test since grade school with you might say flying colors (could not pass up that pun) and a strong tendency for tetrachromacy.
