Here's a beautiful sunset I was able to capture while out in La Jolla, San Diego, California this past labor day weekend. Very popular place with lots of people around. It was hard to find a composition without someone in it. Taking my time I looked around the area for a composition and was able to find this nice spot without any distractions. C&C always appreciated. :)
I have an artist friend that is all about photo-realism. This looks like something she would have painted, and left me scratching my head, trying to decide if it's a photo or an oil. That's a compliment.

I can't find any of her better landscapes online, but realized that the color and quality of light in Malibu wouldn't be much different than La Jolla, which is why it reminded me of her work.
She did some of her work with live subjects, or while outdoors, but would also take a photo, and paint from that. To me, it was interesting that she had such a good eye for light and composition, but only saw photography as a step in creating a painting.
