Hey guys! Some CC on this?

This is my first post here, so i apologise in advance if I do something wrong. This is an image I took a while ago, when i visited a remote monastery at around 1800m. Be as harsh as you can ;) !

Hi and welcome! You asked for as harsh as possible so here goes. Firstly the positives: I really like the way you caught the sun coming through the clouds and it looks like a lovely place - I love the rolling mountain range in the background. Now the negatives, it all looks too soft and not real focus to the composition. The most interesting part - the monastery - is too small in the frame and in shade (which is annoying as there's beams of light on either side of it). The trees in the foreground are just a big black lump and the sky behind the clouds could be with being darker. I'm not sure it works with this b&w conversion, needs to be more contrasty with more foreground detail. (all IMHO!)

I actually like this photo. I agree 100% that its definitely lacking contrast. I would also agree that the monastery is probably too small. However, I like how its surrounded by the beams of light and not covered in them, its cool and kind of dramatic. It pulls my eye straight to it and I don't want to look away, which is good because of how small and almost unnoticeable it is. End result, probably should shoot the monastery from somewhere else, but over all, great shot.

Thank you for your comment! I had no opportunity to shoot the monastery from a different prespective because i was in a hurry. I completly agree with you, the subject is to small compared to the frame. The first time i edited i opened up the foreground, but i like it a bit more misterious.
