Welcome to the place! Photography is an amazing outlet, profession, and everything between. I really like the crop, how close it is really draws you in to her face, and the fill flash is pretty nicely balanced with the ambient. I will say that I keep getting pulled away from her gaze by the lighter (which could be fine to have in the picture, but the way she's holding it keeps giving me pause) and the background feels a little busy over her left shoulder. If the background was blown out and more consistent (like over the camera left shoulder), I think it would have brought more focus to the face. The big caviat to that is if you're looking to tell a story about her relationship with that condo/hotel building. My 2C on a strong portrait! Love to hear your thoughts on my feedback, Tremaine.
Thanks for the feedback and i didnt really have a story to tell i just thought of a idea and seen what i seen in the picture i shud try n understand that concept on telling a story in a picture and also i shud of cropped it closer so the building isnt such a distraction
That's the beauty of photography -- should doesn't really factor in unless you're going for something specific, have a market or audience in mind, or are looking to execute a specific technique.
I actually wouldn't want to see this cropped in any closer for my taste, but instead have the background just be "less busy" as, typically, the focus of a portrait, if it's not environmental, is the face.
