These are the very first portrait photos I have taken. I'm an underwater photographer and this is my first venture in portrait photography. Learned via creative live--studio photography, portrait bootcamp, and high end retouching. Would love to hear what you guys think.
I like the framing, posing and lighting in the second one a lot great job!
Thank you very much! Any tips on how I could've improved on the others? ๐
Well the 3rd one I like the way it is, I like the lighting, expression as well as the outfit she's wearing I think it all comes together nicely. As for the first image, he's the guy I think I would have maybe done a head shot like the woman. Or maybe go for kind of a clamshell lighting I think that would look nice lighting for him as well as that same blue background in the third shot. Just throwing out the way I would wanna try it but you did a great job on all three! Keep us updated if you retake them or try new stuff out!
Wow these are really great.

I really like the pose and attitude, choice of camera angle and lighting work well together, the only thing I would recommend is the next time you have someone with a large Fro in front of your camera, consider using another light behind the subject to act as a strong rim light and really pop him out from the background.
Also I would be interested to see the first image as a Black and white, but i love love love black and white so i'm a little biased :D
Image 2:
This is awesome! Posing, Lighting, Processing, expression are all spot on to my eye. Would change nothing :D

Nailed this one as well, see comments on image 2
Final Thoughts:
GO MAKE DAT MONEY!
That's honestly my only comment. With such great hair, for me it needs to pop just abit more.
Great portrait work!
@Michael Mavor and @James McCann: Thank you very much for the comments. You don't know how encouraging they are.
Noted on the kicker for the fro. I shall try and do that next time.
I totally love the 2nd one. Great pose, lighting,.. Great job!
Very beautiful portraits. Absolutely perfect. Perfect specimens. If your purpose was to show their beauty you've done a perfect job. If your purpose was to show something beyond the aesthetics ie: something about their character or mood or some insight to them - for me there is nothing of interest about them. You captured their face but not their soul. I don't get to know them. If you want to be in business keep it up - this is what people will pay for. When you are rich you can consider capturing their soul as well๐
Hi Fergal, thanks for the kind words. Yes, next step is to get more of the character out. I'll work on that over the next few sessions. Thanks!
Shot my next portrait and added some color toning. Initially I was hesitant to release this shot as the subject's mouth was covered, until I realized that is how he really is--his resting face. I showed it to colleagues and they said "hey that's exactly how he is", which I think nails it. Comments appreciated.
