Michel HOWARD-MAURICE's picture

Portrait of Imene

I'm more familiar with the natural light but as right now the weather in Paris, France, is not that good. I decided to play it at home.
For that picture, I used a steamless backdrop paper of 53 inches and I've build a two lights setup.
In front a 300W Jinbei strobe throw a 48 inches octobox, as a rim light a gridded strip box with a yongnuo speeligth and I also use my 9 year old daughter with a piece of foamcore to make a bit of wind :)

Do you may have some advices for me ?

I think the overall result is really good, the model is beautiful and the light ration between the octa and the strip light is ok.
Personally I would have kept the subject a little bit farther from the background to keep the background darker and more uniformly lit, adding a light vignette effect in post.
I would have darkened a little bit the hand near the face with dodge and burn in post, just to reduce the lightest skin reflections that grab attention from the subject's face.
Personal preferences aside, it is a really nice picture.

Thank you for your advice, I'll try to apply some of them in my next photoshoot

Beautiful image

Thanks you Michael
