This is my 1st take a sports photography, I know some things can be a little better, but you live and learn!
Anyone have some tips or suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it.
Also, I am going for the faded grunge look with these photos. Trying to offer something more than your typical 'take a knee' shoot.

I like it. You might be able to put a reflector or a faded soft box to add some light to the other side so he still looks cool, and edgy without looking too dark. The kids should love these.
I agree that a reflector would have been a big help, but I think it should be possible to get a lot of the benefit in post - make a second layer, change the curve, mask and paint in where needed.
I didn't even THINK about a reflector, that would been all I needed.
