Hey Y'all! I'm not sure if this belongs in the portrait photography group, but I wasn't sure where else it would go. Have a look, enjoy, comment if you like! This was a fun concept shoot for my son who enjoys pretty much all things Tim Burton inspired and wanted to be Edward Scissorhands for Halloween this year.
Shot with a Nikon D4s and 105mm f/1.4E lens. The modifiers varied from the Flashpoint XPLOR 600TTL to an Einstein with two SB-910 gelled flashes.
You absolutely captured the look, but I'm sure we all want to know: who made the costume!
John, Thank you very much!
I bought the scissor hands off of Amazon for $25, the wig from the local Spirit Halloween store for $5 and we made the shirt from an old black shirt from my son's closet and some binder clip rings my husband had from work so they were free, and the same for the pants (which you really can't see in most of the shots). If we had been able to find some cool boots, I probably would have taken more full body shots. I did his makeup with leftovers from my own makeup stash--luckily I'm pretty fair-skinned, so making him more "white" and ghoul-like wasn't too difficult, lol. I set my WB in-camera to Kelvin and around 3350 to add to the bluish tones and tried hard to get the shots where I wanted them in-camera.
Thanks for the detailed reply!
Well done! Bravo! From wardrobe, makeup, and poses to composition and lighting. Love to read that you changed the kelvin to get the "mood/look"
