Did you update your Lightroom?

I have a question for each and every one of you, did you update to the new Lightroom? If so, why?

I honestly haven't updated my Lightroom or Photoshop since the 2015 version, I feel like I don't have to. It has everything I need. Give me a camera raw editor, curves adjustment layer, a brush tool and I'll be fine, haha!

Is there something I'm missing out on?

Hi Nick,

Yes, you are missing out. I never had access to Photoshop until 2010. Keeping pace with software updates and new features is part and parcel of photography these days. It also gives us an opportunity to assess how each new version of Lightroom is functioning in the real world and provide other struggling photographers with valuable feedback.

For example, the previous version of Photoshop CC took forever to load up and close down. I wrongly assumed that it was my computer and ended up using CS6.

Reading other comments here in fstoppers does correct false assumptions.

Yes, I have as well. I always update because it's so easy and convenient. Being a subscriber to the CC very helpful in that regard. One thing I've noticed is an improvement in the speed that previews load up and import speeds as well.

Yes, I've updated to Lightroom Classic from Lightroom 6.1 and not to Lightroom CC. I think updating to CC involves a huge problem considering the amount of diskspace in the cloud. So I keep it the "old" way, saving my images on my own HD. I noticed a significant increase in speed with the update in comparison with 6.1, so it was worth the update (although I also have 6.1 installed, just in case).

No I haven't I still use an older stand alone version of LR. I don't really want to go the subscription route right now. I know one day I'll probably be forced to though.

I'd stay that way if I could, but I need the Premier Pro & After Effects upgrades.
