Hi everyone I'm a twenty-seven year old photographer based out of Battle Creek,Michigan trying to figure out how to get started in travel photography. I have the basics down, currently because of limited budget I do street photography or shoot anywhere I happen to travel to. I've lived light since I left the military and I don't mind long travel times or bad conditions. But I have no idea where to actually start in terms of getting my photos out there. I know that's probably some basic stuff but in my area the only photographers are all the abstract art or wedding photographer types and their advice is always "Try the coffee houses man". I do the odd wedding or portrait shots but it doesn't interest me and the coffee houses don't want my stuff. Apologies if I seem abrasive I'm just irritable in text. Any advice helps, thanks.
I can empathize with your frustration. Everyone around me is also a wedding or family photographer and my stuff is more like stock photography or travel. People say to reach out to tourism boards, but I'm not even sure how to do that.
