Venue asking for images

Shot a wedding recently and the venue manager asked for some images of the venue to put up on their Facebook page website etc. He did not mention anything about money and it was obvious in the way he was asking that he wanted them for free. My question is how can I show him the images (via the internet) without him being able to keep the images in anyway?

I'd watermark the images and let them have them so long as they credit you, it's good publicity for your work.

You wouldn't charge them? But it's advertising for their business.. Isn't it fair for them to pay for our work?

simple answer. You Can't. I suggest you go see him and bring images with you in print, then both of you can negotiate usage fee for some or all of them. In my 12 years in the industry chances of someone booking me because they saw my photos on the venue page or anywhere else for that matter is 1 in 100. Venue doest have to pay cash but for example can offer you a discount in venue hire or a voucher with XXX money value.

If that was me I would ask for a voucher and then use that voucher to sweet the deal on my next wedding client ;)

Wow Percy that's really a great insight. Thanks so much for your advice and time!

I would give them the images for free. It is always good to foster good relationships with venues. Many venues here in my area have lists with recommended vendors which they hand out to couples. If that venue has such a list you can asked to get on there after you gave them the photos :-)
