Hi fellow photogs. I want to have a discussion about the future of photography but couldn't find a group that this would fit well in. So as I shoot weddings and it effects business I thought I might just start here.
It's to do with virtual reality and augmented reality. In an article relating to the Microsoft Hololens: "With investment banks like Goldman Sachs predicting that the combined market for virtual and augmented reality will reach $110 billion by 2020" I wonder how this will, or even if it will effect still imagery. I can imagine a world in the not too distant future where virtual reality is the norm and kids are perplexed by the idea that a static image that didn't do anything was standard.
Where does that leave all the photogs of the world?
Thoughts?
I think possible it could go in that direction but it still has a long way to go.
I really think it depends on how vr is integrated into our every day media. Yes i think that it will effect photography, i think there will still be a solid place in it. I DO think it is VERY important for future photogs to stay up to date on gear. I can imagine having a VR camera in the front row of the pew so people who couldnt make it can still watch
