Hello all,
I've recently stumbled into the wedding photography career. I was asked to shoot a friends wedding and after that experience I was hooked. I would love to assist and possibly second shoot. I live in a great city that is a major destination for weddings. I know there are many articles written about what to do as an assistant or a second shooter, but how should I go about writing emails and making myself useful when I don't have a solid portfolio? What are somethings you all are looking for when someone emails you to assist?

Hello Jon, best thing is to upload few of your work here and get the attention if your are looking someone/Photographer to assist in here(in fstoppers). second one is marketting, I worked & practice with a Professional wedding photographer 2 years not only as his 2 nd Shooter but worked as his lighting assistant. Use social media such as Instagram, facebook etc.. to market yourself. Good luck.
