First weddings are scary! The first shot is a nice moment captured. I like the shot of the bride quite a bit, but the processing looks off to me. It's pretty yellow on my screen and I prefer your crisp edits to the more matted look in this one. The last shot is a little snapshotty. But over all, good job!
On the third photo, maybe step out of their frame and shoot from a different angle. Or, shoot from the other side of the table. A selfie-ception, if you will.
If you think about how an image will appear when it is 3x4 inches or smaller on the page of a wedding album you will understand why the first image and the second one could make the cut but the third image was a waste of time. Having all the clutter in the background of the third image is something to avoid whenever possible. A key job of my assistant is to clean up all the litter that is common to the bridal party hotel room, so I have clean shots without bags and pizza boxes and soda pop cans.
Hi Gareth, My first advice would be to keep the pictures under the same editing color.
Ive been a wedding photographer for a while now, so i like what you are showing as, it depends also the concept you are using while you do the wedding.
Artistic, documentary, etc.
Keep 'em coming!
I've been 2nd shooing for a couple years now (no plans to go primary for a while) and based on these 3 photos, I think you did awesome!
Cheers Tom I was bricking it but the guy I was shooting for was great. He had no expectations of me but still used 250 of my images.
I'd be surprised if he didn't call you back to 2nd shoot for him more! :)
My favorite one is the one with the bride wiping her eye! you captured such a beautiful expression of her.
