Thyssenkrupp Elevator Test Tower
Rottweil, a good hour’s drive southwest of Stuttgart, is based on a Roman foundation in 73 AD. back and is considered the oldest city in Baden-Württemberg. Now the tranquil small town with a historic core has even more of a superlative. The 246 meter high Thyssenkrupp test tower was inaugurated in autumn 2017. It is one of the tallest buildings in Germany, is the world’s tallest elevator test tower and is the tallest building with a textile facade. The design and planning come from Werner Sobek together with Helmut Jahn Architects.
