Rainbow Lorikeet

400mm · f/8 · 1/500 · ISO 4000

This was taken about half a year back at Oatley park in Sydney when I had gotten my first telephoto lens. It was a 100-400 sigma for Fuji X mount that a guy was selling on eBay for cheap.

This photo was cropped in super close but the resolution was fine because of the 40mp sensor on the XH-2. I was also impressed how quickly the camera locked into the birds eyes for tracking purposes.

My arms got pretty tired during the walk and when I came home I sorted through about 600 photos, found only found one keeper and the bird wasn't even flying. After that I had a deeper appreciation for bird phots. I am quite happy with how this turned out.

My dream photo when it comes to birds is to shoot a kingfisher just as its about the dive into the water but hasn't quite broken the surface tension yet and you see its body in the reflection as well.
