"Skating on dimpled glass"

Water Strider, demonstrates surface tension of water.

I used a small shallow pan with black paper attached to the bottom. I filled the pan with 2 inches of water. I setup a strobe with softbox attached. I attached a sheet of water soluble clear acetate which I airbrushed with magenta and blue ink. Finally I placed the waterstrider on the surface of the water, and photographed at an angle that would catch the reflection of the acetate.
