This is the perfect case of:
"See Something.
Wait for Something Else.
Then, and Only Then: Shoot the Whole Thing."
It's not an everyday happenstance in the financial district seeing two cars, hoods up, side by side: one getting juiced up by the other. And the clincher is: an ambulating juice bar in the background with the recurring flashing word "JUICE" on its marquis.
With the stripes of the crosswalk leading you to the scene of two "hoods up", "cables entangled" cars of different shades and the flashing word "JUICE" in the background, you would think I took the shot.
Nah!... it still felt bland. So I placed the direct call to the Gods of Silver Halide (No intercessor). (Actually, I placed the intention in the "Morphic Field"). Wouldn't you know it: this guy came out of nowhere, meandering in my shot, and like any respectable New-Yorker, trying to nosey it up under the hood.
Now I have to wait for the word "JUICE" to show up on the marquis. In the mean time, out of the scene, on the left side of the crosswalk, a surprised high school friend that I haven't seen for years, just made eye contact with me.
In the end, (to really make a long story short), "Juice" showed up on the juice bar marquis, while the meandering nosey guy lets his head gently framed by the open car window. I got the shot!
More importantly, I got both shots!!!
True story.
