Great Egret hovering over water

I observed in fascination this Great Egret as it made several trips to the water from the shore line. It would go over water and hover flying low beating its wingspan to stay aloft. Usually I see them wading alongside the shoreline. This time the elegant laborious maneuver had me in awe and could not leave the area for a while. TowneLake, Cypress, Texas.
