Photographed this at a local waterfall near Dayton, Ohio. This was a just a "fun" photo shoot that I organized with some friends. We had a few different photographers and a few different models.
I've always loved the way strobe lighting interacts with and freezes moving water, so my goal was to have an opportunity to play around with the water in the falls by using it as a backdrop for the portraits.
The biggest challenge was the spraying water. I just made sure to put my speedlights in ziploc bags to keep them safe from the splashing.
Another challenge with this photo was getting the camera to focus on the model and not the water droplets (this was 2017 so AF was not nearly as advanced as it is now).
Camera was a Sony A7II with Tamron 35mm lens
For lighting, I used a speedlight in a 24" softbox for the key, and another speedlight with a red gel held behind the model's back and shooting up into the umbrella.
Very minimal editing except for cloning a few water drops out. Otherwise it's basically straight out of camera.
