This baby elephant and her family were doing everything they could to stay cool in the 40°C plus November temperatures in the Lower Zambezi National Park in Zambia. They had found a shady inlet of the Chongwe River and were deliriously enjoying spraying each other and splashing in the mud during the heat of the late afternoon. The glow from the magic hour sun turned the baby elephant’s skin to a shiny bronze, contrasting nicely with the dull spatters of mud. Magic light, magic moment!
I took the image with a Canon 7D Mark II with a Canon EF 200-400 mm f/4 L IS USM teleconverter lens, handheld. The exposure settings were 1/640 sec , f/5.6, 400 mm, 3200 ISO.
