When I first joined the Navy back in the 70's and on board the USS Badger FF-1071, we would be plane guard and sit behind the carrier. While on plane guard, it was fun to watch the F-14 Tomcats (yeah I'm old school), take-off and land. Watching the afterburners at night were something to see.
