I kind of wish there was a kicker in the back in this photo, simply because the light that's falling on him seems a bit harsh. It kind of looks barebulb, and since the background doesn't appear to be lit, it kind of reminds me of lighting tests done in someone's basement. I'm not usually like, "Every photo looks better with more lights!!!!" but this one is just...missing...something.
I love his expression though. He's a pretty crazy dude (at least judging from his Youtube videos). :)
This was taken at Playlist live, and It was just a step and repeat that I had set up with a gray backdrop and one AB1600 through a Medium Octa. I have photos of about 100 or more you-tubers from this night, and because it was at the after party and people were moving through quickly, there was no real time to set up additional lighting or adjust for each person. It is meant to be a quick portrait, and more about getting expressions and character than being the best technically lit portrait.
