I was driving up the blueridge parkway around 5am thanksgiving weekend. Desperately looking for an open spot that wasnt the typical cliche look out area. I saw the sky change color and knew sunrise was coming fast. it my by luck i happened to see a state park sign that mentioned a look out tower. As I turned down the state park road I saw beautiful clouds as far as the eye could see. it was only through the trees but i knew I was in a good area.
Finally i got to the gate that was closed until sunrise so i found a spot to park and climbed a tall rock to setup and didnt care about teh look out tower.
i started with time lapses, long exposures of the sunrise and then once the sun was higher than I wanted I turned my direction to this mountain top and wanted to use a manual focus 28mm lens I had. threw on a 10 stop ND filter and this was my favorite out of about 3 shots.

30 second exposure combined with another 1/6400 image to prevent blurry trees.
