After heading back to my room after getting a previous sunrise shot, I turned around from my balcony and was shocked by the perfect light that had fallen on the mountains. The aspect of this shot looks north of the Lake (instead of east), toward the Aoraki/Mount Cook National Park section of the Southern Alps. It resulted in the image looking like it was taken at a completely different location, and I think the beauty really lies in the simplicity and the somewhat freakish perfect lighting of the shot. Sometimes less really is more!
