One simple idea, thats all it took for us. We were talking about taking a picture on a local vintage bar in Old San Juan, we got permission from the owner and he was very kind to let us shoot in his place. We scouted the location for several minutes and found a perfect spot that had a little bit of everything, vintage floors, lamps, old doors and a balcony. Just added a soft smooth lighting on to my subject, with a speed light softbox and told him "hold my drink, put one hand in your pocket and give me that steezy look"
