While visiting my cousin in SF, I made the silly mistake of not brining a tripod on a random drive in his new car. I really wanted to get a picture of the Golden Gate Bridge at night because earlier in the day the fog was heavy but it cleared and gave us a perfect window with some clouds still lingering. I improvised by setting a longer exposure and placing my camera on my Lowepro bag so it had a clear view of the bridge and could be still enough to capture enough light. I count this as a successful learning session and a lesson learned that tripods are helpful but if you know your settings you can adapt and still get a picture worth sharing.
