Soft Light at Salterstown

Having set my alarm to capture the sunrise at my "go to" plave, Salterstown in Co Louth, Ireland, it ended up a fairly mute affair. The sun was hidden behind a fairly dense cloud bank and the sky was all shades of grey! I packed up without much to show but before I started up the engine the sun rose above the cloud bank and illuminates the bay with a fantastic soft light. Out with the gear, on with the wellies and into the water I went for this shot. I shot with the Nikon D610, Nikon 18-35 with 10 stop Big Stopper and 2 stop hard grad. I wanted a 30 second exposure so shot at ISO140 and F11. I then switched on my multiple exposure mode and used the timer to fire off the standard 3 shots. This method accentuates the long exposure feel, everything that is static will remain as is and everything that moves in the 3 exposures will be blended together. It's a great method for getting a long exposure look even without filters!! Edit was done in LR, PS and Color Effex.
