It had just rained the previous day and with Winter temperatures, that means it probably snowed up in the mountains. It was New Years morning that I decided to drive up to the mountains of Idyllwild CA, and to my amazement, everything was covered in snow. My initial goal was to shoot a sunrise with the white snow covered mountains, but that didn't happen since the clouds were still too thick. I was zipping through the corners and about half way up, a glimpse of the the city light caught my attention. I immediately pulled over to a turnout and rush to get my gear all set up. This was my very first shot of 2017 and it is definitely one of my favorites so far. Nothing like a quiet city sleeping away while I am up and energized to do some landscape photography. Didn't catch sunrise, but I caught the city sleeping. Good enough for me and it made my day.
