Lofoten islands are for many photographers the favourite location to photograph northern lights. There is a lot of variety of interesting foregrounds: artic beaches, mountains, fjords, small villages and very less light pollution.
At this night the Aurora started about 7 pm. Many photographers were out at the beaches to capture the light. Unfortunately clouds came slowly covering the sky. Most of us left the beach and went home. But not me.
I was driving around the whole night and at 3.30 am in the morning I have seen a strong Aurora in the open sky. I drove quickly to the Skagsanden beach in Flakstad. Usually this beach is very crowded by other photographers. But not at this time. I was the only one at this night and was lucky to photograph and enjoy the Aurora Borealis at the same time.
Here I made a panorama of 9 single vertical images to get the bow of the Northern light completely in one image.
